What your clients really cost to serve
For small professional firms

Your phone bill already knows
which client is unprofitable

ClientLoad reads your call log, calendar and inbox, works out how much unbilled attention each client actually consumed, and sets it against what you billed them. The answer is a multiplier: 1.7x means every billed hour carried another 42 minutes nobody charged for.

No account. Nothing uploaded.

Servicing, not delivery

Your time system already tracks the work you do. This counts everything around it: the calls, the texts, the quick-question emails, the meetings that were never on a matter.

A multiplier, not a total

Ratios do not need your time tracking to be complete, they cannot double-count, and they make a small demanding client stand out next to a large quiet one.

Nothing leaves your browser

Phone bills and mailboxes are parsed on your own machine. No upload, no account, no copy of your client list on anyone else's server.

The gap is well documented. Which client it belongs to is not.

Everyone in professional services knows the hours worked and the hours billed are different numbers. What almost nobody can tell you is which client the difference is sitting with.

64.3%
billable utilisation

The average at professional services firms with fewer than ten people. Roughly a third of paid time is not billable to anyone.

56%
of the day on the actual craft

Small-firm attorneys spend just over half their time practising law. The rest goes on administration and client management.

82%
were doing nothing about it

Admin time was the single highest-ranked challenge in that survey. Four in five of the firms naming it had taken no action at all.

Mostly because there was nothing to act on. A utilisation percentage tells you the firm has a problem; it does not tell you that Weaver Dental is running at 1.7x while Hess is at 1.06x, and it does not give you a number to take into a renewal conversation. That is the gap this fills.

Both are industry surveys rather than peer-reviewed research, and the legal figures describe law firms specifically. We have left out the widely repeated claim that lawyers bill only two or three hours a day: it comes from one software vendor's own platform data measured against an assumed eight-hour day, and it does not mean what it is usually used to mean.

Step 1 · your data stays here

Load your records

Everything is parsed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and no file leaves this machine. Calls carry real durations; emails, texts and meetings without a duration use the allowances below and are marked as estimates.

Assumptions

These only apply where a record has no duration of its own. Every figure derived from them is marked as an estimate, and you can change them and re-run at any time.

Needs a name column plus any phone numbers or email addresses that identify them. Optional columns: rate, billed hours, invoiced. Billed hours is what makes the load ratio possible — without it you get overhead totals but no multiplier.

Column names are detected automatically, so a Verizon bill and a RingCentral export both work without reformatting. Drop one file per phone - a five-person firm on one export undercounts by roughly five times.

Billed hours must cover this same window, or the multiplier means nothing.

Servicing load by client

Load is the multiplier on billed time. 1.25x means every billed hour carried another 15 minutes of unbilled attention. Click any client to see the working.
